We all love our clothes. Fashion Bloggers especially. But over the years, I have found myself being more & more overwhelmed by the amount of clothing I own but rarely wear.
I found the blog The Minimalists several years ago and have been totally inspired by their story. I even completed and video blogged my way through their 30 Day Minimalism Challenge last year.
But today I want to talk specifically about clothes. I always strive to have a minimal wardrobe. However, like many - I struggle with getting rid of pieces I've spent my money on. Today we're chatting how to build (and keep) a minimal wardrobe.
Today I tried a new approach. I put all my clothes on my bed and only pulled out my ABSOLUTE favourite pieces. Articles of clothing I love. Not like, not appreciate, only the ones that I am absolutely in love with.
It was a bit depressing looking around and realizing I only loved about 10% of what I owned. I feel like I deserve more than that percentile ;)
This isn't an exercise in de-cluttering or organizing. Merely an exercise in learning more about your habits.
Why do I love these clothes? Do I love it because it's expensive? Comfortable? Was it a gift? Answer these questions and you'll be better equipped in the future when you're shopping to know what will really make you happy in the long run.
I'd love to hear your tips as well. Comment below or hit me up on the Twittersphere. Don't let your clothes drown you!
