I love clothes! I'm a fashion blogger for god sake. I had pretty much decided against calling myself a minimalist when I started this blog. Until I realized something... I've been doing this blog for nearly a year, and I've noticed that I'm featuring almost the same base pieces almost every week. Denim, leather, flannel, sneakers... they show up again and again. I see the same clothing items being used in my recreations week to week and am realizing how easy it is to narrow down. If anything - tomboy style is actually easier (I think) to live this way. In part one, I highlighted what a capsule wardrobe is, and how to put one together. These are my 30 base pieces. So how can I, as a fashion blogger do this REEEALLY?! Rather than choosing to live with only 28 pieces of clothing, I have simply separated these pieces from the rest of my wardrobe. My capsule sits in a dresser, and the rest of my wardrobe is in the closet. My dresser is first place I go to get dressed. I put on all my capsule pieces first. You have no idea how easy this has made getting ready in the morning. Rather than putting on a bright purple pair of pants, then struggling to find a shirt that matches, I start with putting on basics first. [caption id="attachment_1763" align="alignright" width="3496"] Yes, my entire capsule wardrobe (minus jackets) fits in ONE DRAWER[/caption] Then the fun part - playing with "fast fashion" this is where I can throw on anything else. Something funky, fun, new or trendy. This really becomes so much easier after putting most of your outfit together. Always always start with your base.
MINIMALISM IS THE THING THAT GETS US PAST THE THINGS SO WE CAN MAKE ROOM FOR LIFES MOST IMPORTANT THINGS - WHICH ARENT THINGS AT ALL.

Great tips! A capsule wardrobe is a perfect idea for limiting the amount of clothes in your closet. I have been trying to organize it for some time now. I buy clothes less often, but of better quality. For example, I have had the woolen sweater wool & cashmere for a long time, it is still in perfect condition and I wear it even in the summer.

This is one of the first capsules I can actually get behind – usually they seem so bland and frankly all look the same, especially since capsule wardrobes and minimalism has become trendy. It’s nice to see a capsule with personality!
Thanks so much! I agree ;)
